17 Summer Front Porch Decor Ideas

I love decorating my front porch for the seasons! If you have a beautiful porch, you might as well show it off, right?

Summer is a great time to start sprucing up your porch because it’s the perfect time to sit outside and enjoy the weather.

From bright colors to lush greenery, here are some of my favorite summer front porch decor ideas.

1. Add a pop of color with a bright outdoor rug

I love a good outdoor rug! They’re a great way to define a space, add color, and cover up any ugly concrete or flooring.

I found this pretty coral and navy rug at Target. It’s a great way to add a pop of color to my neutral front porch.

2. Add a pop of color with a DIY chalkboard sign

I love adding a pop of color to our front porch, and this year I decided to make a DIY chalkboard sign. I love how it turned out and it was so simple to make.

I’ll be sharing a full tutorial on the blog soon, but all you need is a piece of scrap wood, chalkboard paint, and a wooden frame.

I used a piece of scrap wood that I found in our garage, and I already had the chalkboard paint and wooden frame.

So this project was totally free! I love how it adds a pop of color to our front porch and I can easily change the message for different seasons.

3. Add a pop of color with bright flowers

I love adding a pop of color to my front porch with bright flowers.

This year, I chose to use pink and purple flowers to add a little bit of color to my otherwise neutral summer front porch decor.

I also added a few plants to my front porch as well. I love the look of mixing potted plants with flowers, and I think it adds a lot of texture to the space.

4. Add a pop of color with DIY flower boxes

I love this idea from The Turquoise Home of adding a pop of color to your front porch with DIY flower boxes!

You can build your own or buy them from a store and then paint them in a bright color to match your decor.

Then, fill them with flowers and greenery for a beautiful and colorful look!

5. Add a pop of color with a painted front door

If you want to make a big statement with minimal effort, simply paint your front door!

You can find a color that complements the rest of your porch decor, or go with a color that speaks to you and makes you happy.

I love the look of a bright, bold front door that stands out against a more neutral color palette.

If you don’t love the idea of a bright color, you can always go with a pastel or a more muted shade.

Another option is to use a temporary paint, like KILZ Chalk Style Paint, so you can switch up the color whenever you want!

6. Add a pop of color with a hanging basket

If you don’t have any hanging baskets on your porch, I highly recommend them! They are so easy to take care of and they add such a pretty touch to your porch.

You can either get a pre-made hanging basket from a local nursery or you can make your own!

It’s super easy to do, and you can find all of the supplies at your local nursery.

I have a whole blog post on how to make a hanging basket if you want to learn how to make one yourself.

I like to hang my hanging baskets at different heights to add a little more interest to my front porch.

I hung this one on the left at the same height as my ferns, but I hung the one on the right a little lower.

I also added a hanging basket to the corner of my porch. I love how it adds a little pop of color to that corner of the porch!

7. Add a pop of color with a DIY summer wreath

I love decorating my front door with a gorgeous wreath, and summer is the perfect time to add a pop of color to your front porch with a DIY wreath.

I made this simple summer wreath with a grapevine base and a few faux floral stems.

I love the way the bright colors pop against the greenery on my front porch.

Another great thing about summer wreaths is that you can leave them up all season long.

There’s no need to worry about your wreath looking out of place with your summer decor.

8. Add a pop of color with a DIY outdoor table

This DIY outdoor table is the perfect way to add a pop of color to your front porch.

I love the bright blue color that was used, but you can paint your table any color you like.

I also love the simplicity of this table. It has a small footprint but is still large enough to hold a few potted plants.

I added a small vase of flowers to the top of my table to add a little bit of color as well.

Conclusion

I hope you found some inspiration for your summer front porch decor. These porches are all so different, yet each one is perfect for summer.

I can’t wait to get started on my own porch. I’m going to be adding some new things this year and I’ll be sharing it all with you.
